Mark's Buddy Finder (MBF) is a sweet little CF powered social networking application from my friend Mark King.

The application allows members to locate people near them to share hobbies and interests. The site is NOT a dating service.

MBF uses Google maps to define members location and the ever trusty "tags" and "tag cloud" metaphor to describe their interests. A simple click on tags in the cloud reveals other members and their distance from you. A simple interface allows you to make contact via email.

The idea of using the WORLD Wide Web to discover local information is appealing and contrasts nicely to things like Twitter that enable some kind of connection with users potentially scattered geographically.

It's early days for MBF but hopefully it gets some momentum. Mark gave me my first introduction to ColdFusion so I'd love to see Mark and MBF go on to big things.
